When making popcorn in one of those cranky machines.. When do you add seasoning?

You know those really old school popcorn makers? Where you put the oil in, and it has a crank, and you add the kernels and then it pops when you turn the crank? When do you add seasoning, for example: salt? I’ve always buttered it after I’ve popped it and then poured salt on it. However, it struck me today that maybe I should put the salt in during the popping, what do you do?
